Meals

We regard snack and meal times as an important part of the Nursery’s day. Eating represents a social time for children and adults and helps children to learn about healthy eating. Although it was published a while ago, we follow the principles of the Children’s Food Trust guidelines in “Eat Better, Start Better”.

All food is prepared and cooked by staff on nursery premises. Special dietary requirements can be catered for.

A lunch time menu can be seen on the board in the toddler room. Babies eat in their own room.

Children are encouraged to drink their milk in the morning and afternoon. They are required to eat some lunch before having pudding. Problems with the above will be discussed with the parents.

Quiet/Sleep time

Babies sleep according to their own routine. Toddlers and children from the classroom all rest after lunch.

Absences

Please let us know if your child is going to be absent from the nursery for any reason, as it helps us to plan. If we know in advance that a child is on holiday we may be able to offer assistance to someone needing an extra day.

Collections

When filling in our Nursery form you will be asked to name all those who will be collecting your child.

Failure of a parent to notify staff of a change in person collecting will result in us refusing to allow the child to leave the premises until we receive authority.

If you know of a change when you drop your child at the nursery please inform the member of staff from your child’s room and make sure that the information is written in the day book. If the change of person happens during the day please telephone the Manager or Deputy Supervisor with complete details.

Non-collection

In the event that a child is not collected by an authorised adult at the end of a day, the Nursery puts into practice agreed procedures detailed in our non-collection of children policy. These ensure the child is cared for safely by an experienced member of staff who is known to the child.
